Ouija Board

New Year’s Eve is the evening of champagne, fireworks and new year’s resolutions. It is also the evening of parties, games, and fun. But be careful, because there is one game you shouldn’t play: a Ouija board.

A Ouija board is a board game with which you can supposedly communicate with the spirit world. You place your fingers on a movable board, ask a question, and wait for the board to slide to an answer. Sounds fun, right? Wrong. It’s dangerous, stupid, and especially unwise on New Year’s Eve. Why? For starters, because you can ruin your own future. You may think you can get a glimpse of what the new year will bring, but you could turn your fate into a nightmare. You may encounter false predictions, bad advice, or even curses. You can lose your chances for happiness, love, or success. Not really something to look forward to.

By using a Ouija board, you could cut yourself off from the people who care about you. You may worry about the voices in your head, instead of the voices around you. You forget to laugh, talk, and toast. You become a boring and gloomy guest, whom no one wants to invite. New Year’s Eve is the evening of cheerfulness, hope, and optimism. It is the evening to welcome the new year. It is the evening to enjoy the moment and dream of the future. Not the evening for horror, worry and doom-mongering. So do yourself and your loved ones a favor and leave that Ouija board. There are plenty of other fun and exciting things to do on New Year’s Eve, such as karaoke, bingo, or twister. And if you really want to know what the new year will bring, do it in a more positive way, such as a fortune cookie or a horoscope. Don’t use a Ouija board when you believe in the supernatural. That’s asking for trouble. Trust me, you don’t want a demon in your life for the new year.
