Christmas Shopping

By now ‘Christmas rush’ is fact. The various obligations have been agreed upon for some time and they will be adjusted again where necessary. All the important things should have been taken care of. Where there are plenty of other moments in the year when you can get things quickly, you will now certainly have to wait in line at the cash register. Even when you’re in the store at an insanely early, or ridiculously late time. I wonder; are people really buying more and more online?

I’m not even speaking about the crazy situations in the supermarkets. Nowadays, to successfully get all the necessary groceries into your shopping cart, it seems like you’re taking part in an idiotic assignment from a strange television program; people who shamelessly pull items from the shelves, without any compassion for others. It’s the Christmas spirit of today.

Obviously, I will also have to buy some ‘important’ things at the supermarket at the last minute. Like those ingredients for a quiche that I don’t have at home. Or maybe I have to go out for that extra bottle of red wine, because someone shows up at the door uninvited, but always welcome. I guess this means that everyone has their own excuse to visit the supermarket at the last minute, just before Christmas.
