Last Thursday things didn’t go as planned at work. In terms of daily work it went okay, but colleagues were asked to participate in a Christmas message to our customers and for social media. I heard it and let the opportunity pass by.
A younger colleague, a puppy compared to my age, thought it would be fun. He didn’t want to do it alone, and because sometimes I am a real softie, I offered to record a message on screen with him.
The organizing colleague immediately asked me if I wanted to walk along to the location of taping. Like a dumb fool, I followed along, and when this colleague told me they were looking for someone with a beard, I realized there was more going on than just recording a Christmas message.
Long story short; this year I am the Santa Claus of the office, and as I am almost as old as the ‘real’ Santa Claus, I don’t mind and am not that excited about it. In response to the several questions I received on Thursday; no, now is not the time for a career change.
